Decent mic to complement NTG2

I was shooting an interior with shotgun mic (NTG2) and the sound was a bit echo-y (despite it sounding fine to my ears). I assume it's one of those "don't shoot with a shotgun inside" scenarios so i was wondering what is a decent compliment to my shotgun for interiors (shooting interviews for docs) in similar price for quality range?

For interiors where the shotgun isn't playing well, the common wisdom is a hypercardioid. Often overlooked and rarely mentioned is the Audio Technica AT U873r... around $200 and a really nice performer.
