Decent hard wired lav mic to be used with a DXA-SLR Pro? Budget £150 used.

Hello,

I'm looking to invest in a wired lav mic to use with my DXA-SLR Pro unit which can provide phantom power if required.

My budget is max about £150 for something used. Ideally a mic that I can easily run XLR to.

I've been looking at the Tram TR50 and things like that but they all have odd ENG connectors and I'm not sure how to power them?

I would be using the mic for dialogue only so I think a hypercardiod would be best?. I want to use it to eliminate echoe and boominess in small rooms.

Any suggestions on something that might suit me?

Thanks!

You can get a TR50 hardwired... or you can find one wired for a wireless WITH the needed power supply as a detachable accessory. It may take a while to come across a nice one at your price, but eventually you will. I'd put a "want" ad in the marketplace.

I'm not sure about shipping... but the oscar sound tech is in your price range as new. CLICK HERE

The OST lavs will fit tram accessories too. I use the vampire clip more than any other mount... even the fancy "cage" mounts, which I thought I'd easily prefer... don't see much use. (my point is, you probably only need a vampire clip for the lav)

Most any lav can be ordered with the proper termination for XLR/phantom power use. As for which lav, this has been discussed many times over around here. You'll find some good information here:

And remember that your £150 budget is about $192 USD, which is a decent budget even for a new lav. If you can stretch another $30 you'll have some really great options.

I'd be wary of purchasing a used lav. You really never know what kind of abuse it has suffered, and lavs are quite delicate.

Well I can get a brand new Sennheiser ME2 for £63 plus postage. I can't find any info on how to modify it for hard-wired use though.

Take a look at Rode's new lav. It features interchangeable terminations on the cable so you can set it up for your exact needs.

As you appear to be in the UK you might want to check out this local company. I sourced a couple of lavs from them and found them to be good value. You have a fourteen day return and refund window if it doesn't cut the mustard for you.
