Bedford Village - Is there a category for best lightning, costumes, and production value? Wow! Is that part of a much larger piece you're working on? The horse trotting shots were great!
Downloading "All Roads Lead Here" as we type.
This is great! A filmfestival in the comforts of your own home.

I am torn hard on 3 of them though. Sigh...

Re: DECEMBER DVXFEST SHORTS
Just got done watching them all. Great job to everyone. I really enjoyed all of your work.
For me, it ultimately comes down to two entries:
All roads lead here & Adventures of Herbert the Engineer: The Christmas Hope
Roads had me salivating at the mouth with its kick ass editing and beautiful black and white composition. And did I mention its kick ass editing? Because if I didn't, I should let everyone know that it had totally kick ass editing. Brilliant job Bob.
Herbert had me rolling on the floor laughing. I'm not kidding. It's nearly midnight here. I watched it 4 times already. I don't know what it is, but this is truly THE funniest thing I have ever seen grace this forum. And that's saying something, considering all the goofballs we have here. Young-H._Lee, win or lose, you deserve some sort of prize.
I haven't come to a decision yet though. I'll think it over and vote in the morning.
God, I love this board!

Re: DECEMBER DVXFEST SHORTS
I had my chain going...Download em on this box then port them over to the other box to watch. Yep there are about three that made it hard, but I went for story value in the end. The one I voted for was well paced story telling from beginning to end that never lost my attention for one second. Congratulations to all participants, they were all worth watching

Re: DECEMBER DVXFEST SHORTS
Everyone gets props in my book. One film had insane design and costume scale, one had visuals that were tasty eye candy, one had an actor that just could plain ****ing act, more than one had me laughing my arse off and one had some FX work that made me go "Wow!". A handful really impressed me and I can't wait until next month's already!
My vote is in; it was painfully hard. I too went with what kept me 'attached'. Too fun!
Great job Barry laying this all out for the community.

A few more downloaded. Man this is fun!
Adventures of Herbert - Now that's funny. ;D Good stuff Lee. Thanks to you, we all have a new evil laugh to quote. Looks like it was fun to make too.
Donaduzzi - I think I dated a girl named that. Seriously, good job. Industrial videos are tough. Trying to keep the client happy and making it all flow.
Poker Night - This one is simple and brilliant. Nice lighting, VO, effects. Perfect. (and I'm only half way through downloading it).
All Roads Lead Here - WOW! I don't know who you are, but you put together a nice short film. It's obvious a lot of work went into every frame. nice!
BARRY!!! ...Can I call a "DO OVER" ??!! Is it too early to demand a recount?

Okay, an Asian guy with the name Herbert is already funny too me. I just watched this and well, (spider snickering) lee, you crazy.
PK- dude I just saw yours... That one shot I find a little disturbing, you know what I'm talking about. You almost gave my grandma who was watching it a heart attack. That must be CG.
All Roads.. you guys said it best. Tough decision indeed.
Lots of talented filmmakers..

Re: DECEMBER DVXFEST SHORTS
downloaded them all. the ones i loved went into the finals and i watched them again and made my decision to what short would get my vote.
bedford village : great production value. costumes, houses, actors, horse. but the story didn't do much for me. good job though
All Roads Lead Here : man this looked good. great directing, camera work, editing & lighting. loved it
Prati, Donaduzzi : haha looks like my intern job, we had to
make similar industry movies. was ok but also a bit slow.
Samurai : nice look and good directing. liked this one.
Br()ken : good stuff, couple of scenes especially:
the cameras when the couple comes home and are in front of the door. when the guys starts flipping trough the photo's. and the whole end scene where he finds out the truth
Slower Sound: hahahah greatness. cool colors, great lighting and a funny/sad story. loved it
Hungry tiger: hahahah wtf? funny though.
poker night: i'm impressed, great sylish editing and good cinematagrophy. loved it
smoking : hahaha holy crap. good one though.
beautiful add : nice promo, looks like it will be a solid music vid.
the loner : hahah really nice story. laughed my ass of when he said "or do you make out?" hahha. great stoy driven short. loved it
King & Angel in the rain: nice romantic short, good actor directing.
Leavenworth : great ensemble of night shots. shot from the car look cool.
Adventures of Herbert the Engineer: The Christmas Hope:
hahahahah really funny plus it looked good.
for me it's between "slower sounds" - "all roads lead.." & "poker night"
....

It's a trap!
I loved seeing all this work, thank you for taking the time to put these projects together.
I really enjoyed the visuals on Bob Gundu's All Roads Lead Here, and PK's composition and timing on Loner were dead-on. Congratulations to everyone for their great projects!

What a way to end 2004 and to start 2005, now this is a contest!!!!!
Great work everyone!
Congratulations Barry for taking the time to pull this off. Everything is great. I really like all the work here. I have a couple of favorites, though. It's so cool to see what you can achieve with this camera, but even better to see what comes out of the creative procees and the vision of the filmmakers.
Everything is so diverse and fresh. I really enjoyed watching all the movies. Let's keep up the great work here DVXrs, we all have to be very proud of our work.
Happy new year
