Death to reality TV!

Reality TV is inexpensive to make. As long as they get rating they'll continue to make them. Is it that different from the studios that make Rocky 25 or Friday the 13th 14? It's all about money...not that I'm saying money isn't good. I'm just asking for a little creativity...or perhaps some more discerning taste from a zombie-eyed audience. With the rare exception I hate sequels almost as much as the majority of reality TV. Note there are the rare exceptions (it's not a absolute) just as I will admit to occasionally finding myself tuned into a reality show. I'm not saying which one, though.

I loathe reality tv.... The only time you caught me watching reality tv was when "the contender" was on, and that was a "real" sport.
Wait.... Boxing is a sport, isn't it? oops, wrong thread.

That's why I watch soaps!

Well at least soaps are a scripted [poorly] produced [cheaply] acted [arguably] show - Albeit, painfully slow.... But still a form of creativity...

I've always thought reality TV is just a few steps away from building a colusseum and watching people get ripped to shreds by lions. That's my prediction for NBC's fall line up.

Man, The Running Man does seem at lot more relevant these days, huh? It's time to pull Richard Dawson out of retirement.

I remember I was so excited about survivor because I thought it was gunna be real. Like real people trying to survive on an island but its nothing like that.

Ironically, reality TV is the most unrealistic stuff on tv.

Isn't that the real problem, though? Reality TV is NOT real. Everything is manipulated and the producers depend on their audience not asking too many questions or really thinking about what's being presented as real.

I HATE reality series and especially crappy soap operas (which but the way is on the air WAY to often). The only thing I watch are those idiotic sit-coms which make me laugh because they are so stupid. However, when half of the episodes have been shown, they start all over again and they just get boring after a while.

anthony bordain / no reservations.. on the travel channel is pretty darn good. a documentary type show.. anyone see it?

+ theme music by john spencer.

I don't count documentaries and specials as "reality TV" - I watch the Discovery and Science channel constantly. I mean crap like "who wants to marry a fat billionaire who is really your father and poor" junk...

We have a saying...

It was real the first time... now let's shoot it again.

Remember that reality producers have to edit for drama - watching someone clean under their nails with a piece of abalone shell for 42 minutes is really boring.

There is plenty of quality narrative drama out there for anyone who wants it. Heck, there are eight Law and Order and CSI derivative work shows on at any given time. And let's not forget all the crap on SciFi.

What bothers me is reality masquerading as documentary - now that is offensive.
