Death Race

Lame premise; the race across the country was much better. Something tells me this'll be worse than McTiernan's Rollerball.

I just saw another trailer on another site, which prompted me to look for a Dearthrace thread.

As the trailer chugged along I began to shake my head, until I saw Jason Statham. It was then that I thought this film might have legs.

Though it smacked of Arnie's The Running Man, I have to admit, by the end of the trailer I was intrigued enough to want to see it.

I have the original Death Race (Sylvester Stallone is one of the racers) and all I can say is, man they were smoking some serious drugs when they were shooting that one ;)

I'm a big fan of Jason Statham's work, I didn't know that he was in a remake of this trashy film?

just got back from watching this, I must say pretty entertaining as far as adrenaline goes
just leave your brain at the door
FYI this was directed by the dude that directed mortal combat
yeah I know :)

jajaja john I wish I had known who made the film before I walked into it
but it was this or the house bunny
I'll say one thing though, about the only thing I enjoyed was watching the money burning on screen

Nice! :) It is hard to imagine Jason Statham in other types movies.

If you haven't already, check out the first two Guy Ritchie films he was in, and also The Bank Job, which is Statham's best film.

Death Race was fun as hell though. A lot better than I thought it would be, especially coming from Paul W.S. Anderson. He's now made three good films total: Shopping, Event Horizon, and Death Race.

Yeah, just leave your brain at the door as a previous poster mentioned.

I could see this becoming a culty movie for young kids the way I was stoked on movies that ran on cable TV in the 80's. (Road Warrior, Escape From New York, Commando)

Can't wait to see Statham in the new Crank movie that filmed with the XH-A1. Will definitely check out the Bank Job on your recommendation.

I was a huge fan of the first one, it was just good fun. While I'm suspicious of this new film, I am also a fan of Statham. He isn't a great actor, but he has been a good actor, and so far I have liked what he has been in... except Crank. The premise behind that was a bit thin.

What about when he gets the Doctor (At gunpoint) to shock him with the cardiac paddles? Or the ending where he is falling to his death from a helicopter, and calls his girlfriend?

The funny thing is, I saw Crank, and I can't remember a single thing about it.

Thats the best thing about getting old. You can watch a movie...and a year later, no recollection. So you can watch it all over again. I guess seeing hundred (probably thousands) of films combined with aging diminishes the memory.

When I was younger I remembered character names, plotlines, dialogue. If you needed to know anything about The Osterman Weekend, I was your man.

The problem with your theory is that I just saw The Osterman Weekend a little while ago, and it's clearer in my memory than Crank. At least, Meg Foster sure is.
