Dear Panasonic, please read and realize - you have to be REALLY innovative!

Hoping, Panasonic or at least some influential person will read this - I start this thread, to highlight the call for REAL INNOVATION!

I hope, this might help - by the Will of the almighty God - the user and the manufacturer - not trying to put up "unrealistic" suggestions:

Dear Panasonic,

if you really want to sell a future-product, hitting a salesmark, nobody before you did - please read and listen:

We are talking about a camera/camcorder that should arrive in the future - and will sell like nothing before it...right?

So here are the rules:

The main philosophy should really be:

BE OPEN FOR INNOVATIONS - AND TRY TO BE FIRST!!! Even though I am not a fan of B.Obama - but take this sentence:"Yes you can!!!"

1. You really need to implement REAL innovations
Some might think, that the AF-100 is or was the first step in that direction...but Sony did´t sleep and gave us the FS-100, F3, Upcoming with the F65 ETC...even the NEX-5n and NEX-7 are really interesting for videographers - just think about the 1080p60 which seems to get a standard)
Next problem with the AF-100 is, that the GH-2 outperfoms it in some cases, like resolution, compactness and with the hack it now even gets more interesting!

2. Don´t bite into a conservative view about technical and optical development of you products - for example: Let´s Start with the form-factor.

Try something new: Maybe like that - where is that camera? If the camera is innovative and well designed, you will be able to sell even more of your products, simply because every human beeing loves beautiful shapes.

Bildschirmfoto 2012-01-20 um 22.42.22.jpg I think this seems like nice basedesign - just a bit more in the direction of the AF100 (with a REAL modular character - but still COMPACT and it´s time for something like a magnesium body)
GH3.jpg The Hasselblad has really nice ergonomics - combine it with a more robust design with reasonable mounting-options (take a look at the Red Epic/Scarlet).
GH3 A.jpg A rigid top-handle or at least mounting-option is a MUST!
GH3 B.jpg You should not forget, that most professional users will need camera-rigs -
GH3 C.jpg so dont´t forget to give the camera an option to mount a compact-baseplate for a nice compact follow-focus and mattebox option (take a look at the C300 gorillaplate from Zacuto - it´s very compact well designed)

3. Now to the most important part: THE TECHNICAL SPECS:

- A real video-optimised Micro 4/3 sensor or at least a way to offer a DSMC-concept-like solution, with NO compromise!!! This will result in a better IQ when it comes to resolution, dynamic range and low-light capability.

- An improved codec or post-processing - even if that would mean a NEW developed codec - this might result simply in a wider acceptance - like reaching an internal recording of the minimum BBC-Standard - 50 Mbit 4:2:2

- AND NOW A VERY IMPORTANT POINT:
Implement a more creative range of framerates! Did you check the actual technical specs of other cameras?

- No camera offers something like 1080p 120fps even through overcranking - even 720p would be nice - but the SONY FS-100 has already the smooth-motion recording on board @ about 480p - so 1080p might sound reasonable for the future(sales).

- A much more robust Micro 4/3 mount, that can hold about 3KG of cine-glass

- If you think about 4K - then please try to give an internal 2K or 1080p option

- XLR-Inputs and better internal Audio-Processing for a minimum amount of Audio-Noise

- ND-Filters at least an electronic way to make it available

- High resolution LCD and viewfinder - just look around....it´s time for some adjustments or improvements.

- 10Bit Internal or at least external recording option - does it really cost that much for you to implement it for a reasonable price?

- If SD-cards are not enough for the datainput - please give us a cheaper option than P2 - like compact-flash or the new sony cards

- At least one zoom-lens, that is A) fast (like the Olympus 14-35mm) and B) Video-Optimised

- Let the camera be "flexible-firmware-upgrade-ready" - for a reasonable amount of imrovements

- Fast dial-options for ISO, SHUTTER, IRIS

- A better or more intuitive menu-system - that maybe results in "having fun in dialing into the menu"

- A 16mm sensor-crop option for the use of beautiful 16mm cine-glass

I think other users can complete or correct that list with (hopefully) realistic suggestions.

Thank you for reading.
