Well... I just got a refund from my cinema in a smaller town. IT was as busy Star Wars!!! I kid you not. And that was getting in 25min early, no way I'm sitting a metre from the screen. Dayyyuuuum.
Might come back for the 9.30pm, my poor shattered heart.
Finally saw it today. A great opening scene, only second to maybe Zombieland that comes to mind right now. The whole cinema was really into the flick.
Reynolds was awesome, definitely perfect for the role and he alone raises the movie higher than it should maybe be. It was brilliant to see Colossus get some good airtime; he used to be one of my favourites as a kid.
SPOILERISH #####
Couple biggish things I didn't like...
1. The bag guy and the main storyline of why Deadpool was after the bad guy was kinda weak for me.
2. Fight scene with Colossus/Gina Carano/Warhead was ok but not to creative, probably expected more there.
Still, a very fun movie that breathes some new life into the Superhero genre.

PPS. I heard Salt n Pepper on 3 seperate occasion today.
I went into the moving hoping it would be as good as I wanted it to be and it blew my doors off. Reynold's odd deadpan is a great fit for Deadpool and the whole flick was really entertaining. With ticket prices being so high I rarely see movies in the theater more than once but I'd pay for a second viewing of Deadpool in a heartbeat. Lots of fun and I'm sure on the second viewing I'd pickup on one-liners/references that I missed initially.
Sorry to be late to the party - saw it last night. Wow. I'm surprised this didn't generate more discussion here. It's definitely a breakout film. Take a PG-13 superhero movie and turn it into hard R! The level of raunch, lewdness and attitude is out of this world for a mainstream tentpole movie. We've seen lewdness and raunchiness galore, but usually in a more cult or differently themed movie - and this movie was aimed squarely at the mainstream and it cleaned up at the box office, signalling total acceptance. I guess I'm old - I'm not shocked by the content, but by the fact that it's happening in a mainstream spandex movie. Wow.
The whole movie is "attitude". Dialogue - really must say, I found it pretty entertaining, even witty in places, and often laugh out loud funny. The breaking of the 4th wall with complete abandon, the metacommentaries, the audience asides, the structure and the feeling: ATTITUDE!
Now, the action itself wasn't anything we have not seen individual elements of everywhere forever - here it was done quite well on a modest budget - but that's not really the point of the movie. The movie is all about the smart self-aware, totally with-it attitude.
I really feel this is something that cannot be ignored. I don't think you can keep making superhero movies like they used to. It's a watershed. You know how the mentality of an era in film changes? For example from the 50's to the 60's? All of a sudden, 50's filmmaking seemed really old-fashioned to the 60's audiences. Same here. That era has passed. Audiences today are way more accepting of challenging convention, subverting convention, playing with convention and most importantly calling BS and not accepting BS. Go fly your freak-flag, as long as you can make it work. I say, I approve - very refreshing! I'm sure it'll take a bit of time, no era transitions immediately, there is a period of co-existence of old and new, but eventually the old passes into history.
I enjoyed the movie OK for what it was, a spandex movie (not my genre of choice) - but what I was amazed by, is the signalling of a new era of what's acceptable in mainstream movies. I look forward to this brave new world!
Ha, ha, ha, dead on - really the flavor 100%, including the "no BS" of slamming their own business promotions (dvds, bluray - "coasters", lol!). And yes, this movie is a game changer. I'm surprised at the relatively crickets response to this film here on dvxuser.
