Actually, as soon as he disappears behind the wave the camera drops. Could it not be possible that the guy dropped the camera to make sure that someone contacted them on the boat? To let them know that they just lost him?there's no "hey I gotta' set the cam down to help" moment...
:laugh:EDIT: It was cute to watch you guys argue though. It was like listening to 13yos argue about how real thier fav rapper's lyrics are LOL
It's quite possible that there was only one camera filming from the other boat at that time.CAMERA 1
Oh sh!t he went under water, I'm gonna help!
PRODUCER
Ok camera 1 go ahead and drop your camera and help, Camera 2 it's important you get as much reaction from the captain as possible! Matter of fact if he touches the throttle you better be all over it.
CAMERA2
Ummm... ok... I guess, sure
PRODUCER
(to self)
This is gonna be brilliant!
Clearly none of you have been in a survival situation while shooting a doc.
Let me know when you have. Then we'll talk.
You probably never had a Colt 45 either then....32 oz or six pack...
Now you see how I got sucked in, Cola.
I shot a documentary in Haiti for 11 days... and at one point, in a super-crowded city... I made camera contact with some rough looking character who, among the banter of non-english voices, yelled a decidedly english phrase at me... "F*CK YOU!"... and I definitely feared for my life since everything on the travel advisory site warns against guerilla filming in Haiti... but my producer told me that I better keep shooting... so I did.
Other times I had my cam wrapped in a blanket with the lens sticking out... so that we could film in other places where a camera isn't welcome... you kind of had to keep your cool there also. I guess I could have panicked and just shot the inside of the blanket.
To each his own I guess.
Clearly I've never been a beautiful yet slightly vacuous young white teenager living in the OC, nor a former Public enemy hype man who knows what time it is, neither have I been stuck in a house with 7 strangers to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start being real, nor have I been a rail thin young bolemic woman humiliating myself so Tyra will jump start my carreer, hmm lets see, never had a mullet and chased polonisians across a beautiful tropical paradise spraying them with mace and yelling God loves you bruh! And NO I have never been on a fishing vessel in the raging Arctic seas, hell I DONT EVEN EAT SEAFOOD so WTF would I know about TV?
I prostrate myself in front of you.
I agree with you completely, but to me the clip in questions looks re-enacted with b-roll.Listen, I'm not saying you don't know anything about TV. All I'm saying is that if you're in a situation in which you're with people who you're very close with (which all those guys on the boat are, including the film crew), and suddenly one of their lives are in danger, then I find it hard to believe that you would continue shooting instead of stopping to help.
