Hey how's it going everyone! This is a music video I did for a band based out of Colorado Springs, CO. They are called "Dead Set", a 5 piece melodic hardcore outfit.

Equipment used for this:
GH4
Metabones Speed Booster x64 EF Mount
Sigma 24mm 1.4
Canon 50mm 1.8
x2 512 LED panels
Haze In A Can
All post work was done in Sony Vegas. Graded in Film Convert.

Backstory: I had been talking for weeks with the drummer of this band to figure out the logistics. We had 2 locations scouted out that had originally said they could accommodate the video shoot. However, come the day before, both locations had cancelled on us. So, we had a last minute change of location, which ended up being in my house. The story was shot separately at a different location and a different date. Under the circumstances, I think as a team we did really well to produce a video that both I, and the clients were happy with. This was hosted on a youtube channel that has a niche specifically for melodic hardcore and has done extremely well!

Thoughts and comments, anyone? I'd love to hear some feedback, either good or badk. Cheers!

Well, that probably explains why no one was said anything!!

Haha thanks for the heads up, should have double checked :P

I was wondering as the music began, do these guys give a f*ck? And then it became clear by the alcohol and the pills and the suicide note: No way! These guys DO NOT GIVE ANY F*CKS!!!

I liked your color grade and the wobble-cam seemed to work with the music. Story? Meh. I'd like to see some advancement or twist from something we've all seen a gerjillion times. Or even a hint of what his trouble is, like a girl ditching him or a past-due notice on his Netflix.

I like the performance footage. Well shot.

Music was good. I'm not really into ALL SCREAMED vocals. I think the music is good enough for a singer who might do the screaming at times but that's not your department in this endeavor.

I'm going to direct a music video next month and I hope I do as good a job.

Hahah, no F*cks given good sir! Yeah, this was a story that they had in mind, bare bones, and I added the pill bottle and alcohol into the mix. The end is left open ended, just as the song, to leave the interpretation up the audience as to whether or not he did in fact take the pills and alcohol or not. I'd say it was a past-due notice on Netflix :P

I used film convert for grading, and yes, camera movements were certainly dictated by the speed and intensity of the music.

Thank you for your words!

Thank you! They are definitely heavily driven with aggressive vocals, but a lot of their other songs on the EP have much more singing vocal involved. And you are definitely right, it's not my department in that regard :P

Well, if you need tips or anything of that sort, I'd love to chat and help out with anything you may have questions about. Thanks for your words!

Just shot it this past weekend.

Used a 5D, I'll start a thread about it soon.
