Dead Pixel

Do you mean masking in post? Sure I can and I have done that. I meant to permanently fix the problem.

Put the lens cap on and hold the white balance for a few seconds. If it didn't remove try again until it does. I am almost sure that is how you mask it. It is on the instructions pdf.

Thanks, black balance seemed to work great. I assume that this is a temporary fix? Do I need to always be sure to black balance to avoid it coming back? Or is it "fixed"?

It should be a permanent fix for that pixel only. The camera will only compensate for so many "dead" pixels, but you should good to go.
If you want to understand how that compensation process works, there are plenty of good websites out there that explain it better than I can.

Dead pixels use to be a very expensive fix for the older Sony cameras. I had a Sony Beta-cam that had a few bad pixels once, Sony recommended at the time once the black balance pixel masking memory was used up to replace the optical block, a $6K repair. I then found a guy out west that had the equipment to go into the sensor and turn that pixel off, he charged $1000. The F3 has a lot of extra pixels that are not used on the Exmor 3.36 megapixel sensor. I found this thread to be very informative;

I'd really like to read through that F3 service manual.
