I just received my HVX200 and there is a dead pixel which shows up white right in the middle of the eyepiece viewfinder. I should just return this to where I purchased it right.
I would definately try to return it as I'm sure it will bug you every time you look at it. That said, you may not be able to return as with most products you need a 'cluster' of dead pixels, say 3 or so together for it to be classed as defective. If I were you I'd go in to the shop asap - they'll be less likely to turn you down in person.
My HVX came with a dead pixel (showing black) on the LCD. I've found no difficulty ignoring it, and as I needed to use the camera right away I had little choice. I wonder how common this problem is
.
I wouldn't want to spend all those bucks on a hvx and get a dead pixel, I have one on my PSP and that's bad enough.
This is taken from the HVX manual: page 124
"Liquid Crystal Displays. The liquid crystal parts are highly precise with 99.99% of the pixels effective. This leaves less than .01% of pixels that may not light or may remain on all the time. These phenomena are normal and will have no effect on the images you shoot."
There are 210,000 pixels on the hvx lcd so does that mean you must have 22 dead pixels for it to be classed defective? I don't trust my maths.
