De-Activating Odyssey 7Q and RAW Option

Do you mean to just use the 7Q as a monitor? To do that switch it from RAW or Pro-Res to 4:2:2 / 4:4:4 DPX option, then you can just use it as a monitor.

There's is zero reason to remove the RAW option from the FS700 as it's easy to just not use it.

As its a paid upgrade it is a very good reason to deactivate it when ur going to rent or sell it.

Well it's not like you're going to be able to get your money back from the codec by deactivating it. As far as I know, once you've activated it, it's a part of the system. If you're selling the 7Q, price the item accordingly w/ the codec as a part of it. If you're renting it, include that in the description and price it accordingly. I know a rental place in town bought the codec and have it listed in the description (and even increased the rental price after they unlocked the FS700 codec), but they mention needing to rent the rentable codecs if you're using ARRI RAW or Canon RAW.

How much can one realistically rent it for?

There is a way to deactivate each record option. We don't like to publish the code but I will inform anyone privately who really wishes to know.

The process is to go to * -> ODYSSEY -> SET -> ACTIVATION and then tap on the individual function, such as FS700 RAW. If yours is currently activated it will say ACTIVE in a green box. Tap this green box and it will say SET DEMO. Tap this again and it will prompt enterring a code. Once the code is entered the specific option has been deactivated and to reactivate it you will need to enter the original eight-letter alphanumeric code from when you originally purchased the option. If you don't remember it the information is stored in your account.

Deactivation of an option is available for the use of rental houses who may wish to charge extra for such functions. This way they can choose to send the unit out with or without record options active.

The reason we made this a multistep process with a special code is that when we didn't there were occurrences of rental clients out in the field accidentally deactivating record options and then not knowing the purchase key codes for reactivating them. So we had to make the deactivation a bit of a process.

Again, if any of you really want to know this code then please PM me. We don't pubish it in the manual or elsewhere. Just trying to protect y'all.
