DC Power out is dead, any ideas?

Hey Guys,

I need to power my Lectrosonics receiver with the DC power out tap on the back of the 300 but it is now not working. YET...it worked on another 300 on the job. So I know it's not the cable.

My question is: Is there a setting or switch I may have tweaked that turned off my power tap? I can't find any. Is there a fuse? Ideas are appreciated otherwise I'll have to send the camera in.

My camera has the same problem. Discovered it a few weeks ago. Like you, the cable and lectro worked on another 300.

I haven't looked into sending it in for repairs yet.

just to confirm - you're coming out of the 4-pin DC out of the camera...NOT the 2-pin powertap on the battery plate - right?

Yes I believe it is an internal blown fuse. The reason I think this is- in my haste I grabbed the jack that goes into the bottom of the receiver and instead of putting it into the three pin female Lectro jack I inadvertently started shoving it into the female power jack. I did this because I was working by feel from above.

So...I reckon the metals touched and I have blown the fuse. Not a big problem but I will feel stupid having to pay someone at least $150 to change a fuse and lose the camera for a couple of days.

HAS ANYONE UNSCREWED THIS BACK PLATE WHERE THE FUSE IS? Is it an idiot proof fuse change or is an in-line solder job? If I have the local camera repair guys do it, will it void the warranty?

Thanks

Have the same problem with one of my 300's. Must be a design flaw. Never happened with our Varicams.

Im no camera tech, but in my camera bag I carry fuses and have had to change them on my 500 before as I lost the dtap. If youre talking about the fuses that are under the battery plate they are pretty straight forward to change and I doubt (youde need to verify), that you would void youre warranty as the battery plate, when removed does not allow access to the internals of the camera. Just the power wires that extend into the small cavity there.

BUT, theres no way Im going to be on a shoot and have a fuse blow, and then turn around and say sorry blown fuse, have to go home. Which leads me to believe - in a common sense world - its not a warranty issue.

It's not the one under the battery plate, it's right above the AC input jack and my sales person has told me I would void the warranty if I mess with it so I'm sending it into Panasonic. Thanks everyone
