DC OUT 12v 1.5A -> Would this power my DATAVIDEO SDI TO HDMI Converter?

Hi

I've only my had my 300 a few months so I'm still working my way through this camera.

Before owning this camera I was a regular reader of this forum.

I already owned a SmallHD DP1 9" monitor and found a solution to convert the 2nd SDI output to HDMI using the DATAVIDEO SDI to HDMI converter by reading this forum.

The SmallHD DP1 monitor does not have SDI input.

The DATAVIDEO solution works a treat. I now want to do some external location filming and use the SmallHD Monitor.

The only problem is that the DATAVIDEO SDI to HDMI converter power supply plugs into the wall for power.

The DATAVIDEO SDI / HDMI converter uses a 12v 1.5A power adaptor.

I notice that the Panny 300 has a DC Out 12v 1.5A output on the back of the Camera.

Does anyone know if this output on the back of the cam would be safe to power the DATAVIDEO converter to save me spending more money on another SDI field monitor solution other than my SmalHD DP1 monitor?

I use Sony BP-GL95A batteries for the cam.

Any opinions or knowledge on the subject would be appreciated.

Cheers

I can now answer this for myself.

I sent off an email to Datavideo and they state that the power supply must be regulated -> Pany manual indicates that DC OUTPUT on the cam is unregulated.

What a pity, never give a sucker an even break I think the saying goes.

Cheers
