Day for Night Grab

Owen

Photoshop Savant
A bit of post-production was done on this shot, as the original was never intended to double as a night exterior. However, 18 months after the shoot the need arose for a night shot of this house, so here we go:

CORRECTED (and matted and enhanced etc etc etc)

It's only a 3 second establishing shot, so it works for my needs. The fog moves across the moon etc. The moon is stock that I shot with the DVX as well -- it comes in handy now and then. House element is also DVX. CC and lighting FX are 100% After Effects.

I'm afraid that on the "big screen" in motion it verges on borderline hokey... one of those things you don't want to keep up there for too long.

Looks good (as always with your stuff), but the moon looks a little cheesy to me. Pretty large too.

Maybe get a shot of the moon subtlely hidden behind clouds, and slightly smaller...IMHO.

i'm going to get technical here. if the moon is in the background, then the light reflected off the moon would be on the backside of the house, the side that we don't see, not the front side that we do see. i just say cut out the moon, you don't need it.

But if you want to keep the moon, have the light on the front of the house fall off toward the right into extreme darkness.

Good suggestions from all -- thank you... even though you people have now sent me BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD! Sheesh!

But really, I'll go back to tinkering and at least darken the side of the house that is mysteriously lit.

I would take out the sky (and the moon) and add in a sky like this in order to show the house's shape.

I love that "fake" look. Even tho you try your best not to make it look fake. I'm a big fan of painted backdrops.

woooooooow:thumbup:

what did you do man

please please please how how how:cheesy:

flipsidekrew! That is so cool! Please, tell us how did you do it!? Thanks! This is so intresting thread!

flipsidekrew, the sky looks excellent, however, I think that the ground in the picture looks to lower colour temp - too yellow.

Try desaturating the lower half of the picture and giving it a blue tint. Maybe darken it slightly too.
