The new Mac based software only version of DaVinci Resolve will retail at only US$995 and includes all the powerful DaVinci Resolve features. When running on a Mac, DaVinci Resolve is limited to a single GPU based solution because of slot availability and lack of InfiniBand for Mac, however this does not mean it's limited on power! In the company’s performance testing, the single GPU performance on Mac is similar to the single GPU Linux systems that cost $200,000 only 6 months ago."

The whole reason for post houses using the DaVinci is because its realtime. Your not going to get anywhere near the same performance with a software based system. Single GPU, what a joke.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr maybe not

This means DaVinci Resolve on Mac is a fantastic solution for SD and HD, and even 2K. Colorists can rotate images, re-frame, add corrections, blurs and trackers, and then just hit play, and it’s all real time. Plus, because no features are disabled on this software only version, when faster GPU cards are released in the future, customers can simply plug them in for more power. This really is a true high end color correction system.'

will the software allow 3rd party controlling devices? (tangant wave or mc color and transport)

edit: it seems to be open to third party conttrollers. not sure how well it will integrate mc color.

if the power windows use an extra wheel for position, size and feathering, right?

how well will it work with the current not so expensive controllers, will customization be at a level of lets say click on a button to switch one of the trackballs into the position one?

does mc color have enough buttons and keys to get by(just for the normal use or daily use, not for assigning every single command on resolve)? would someone actually be able to get by, using the controller without switching to a mouse every 5 mins.

what controller would you recommend in the not so expensive(oh my god, i can't believe it's that expensive) category. (1k - 3K - closer to the 1k obviously) for the trackballs, (sub1K) for the jog/shuttle wheel.
