David does Panama trailer HVX

I try not to come around that much unless I actually have something to contribute and thought this might be of interest to some. I am currently running the editing for a website www.davidsbeenhere.com The concept of the site is simple enough, David travels the world and wherever he is he tries to find the best places to eat, stay and the best things to see and do, all the while capturing it with a Panasonic HVX200 (as well as some amazing stock footage of places)

He recently got back from Morocco (just uploaded a video to his site of him taking a camel ride through the Sahara.) But this video is actually a trailer showing what can be expected from his recent trip to Panama. All shot on a stock HVX, cut and colored in FCP.

In the very near future we should be switching over to the HPX500 to handle the bulk of the shooting. Anyway have a look and thoughts and comments are always welcome. Every shot in the trailer was captured by our crew.

Awesome!

I like to travel too. I just can't afford to drag a camera man around with me. I go solo. I just got back from Japan, I'm going to Maui this week and then Peru in November. I'm going to add Morocco Sahara camel ride to my list. That looks like a blast!

Its okay, but I'd like more travel banter. Doesn't seem to be more than a bunch of pretty shots an then David comes on and says 2 lines.

Not very compelling.

Wow.. guess I sort of dropped this and then got swamped. Sorry I was not back sooner. Thanks everyone for checking it out. To answer some questions and address comments.

David travels with 2 others generally, the Director/DP and camera operator Carlos and his side kick Tito who also acts as boom wrangler.

As to Mcgee.. I am not sure if you are referring to the trailer directly or the videos on the site? The site videos have a good bit of banter and as he becomes more comfortable on camera he tends to be a bit more engaging. The trailer is cut more as a teaser, and images are the direction we decided to take it. Most of what he has to say is location (or business) specific so grabbing sound bites is a bit difficult in a broader sense. Even so this is always evolving so we are constantly changing. Now we have an HPX500 going out on the road with them as the primary camera so some interesting footage especially on the wide shots should result.
