Data transfer

Hey
Well i have a Dvx100a, happy about it, but when it comes to getting the video from the camera to my pc i have a problem.
My pc doesnt have a firewire port, so my setup by now is to transfer video to my mac, through the firewire port, and then to an external harddrive, and then to my pc with sony vegas.
My question is if there isnt any easier way to do this? Maybe a firewire to USB adapter? (i know it is two different data transfer systems but still)

Could you edit right on the mac instead? (Obviously not in Vegas...) I have to say though, I like having one machine to import footage while I edit on the other. Can you network up to a shared drive?
 
If you do this process, to capture on MAC then transfert to PC, you would probably get problems with the codec your video was encoded in the mac.
