Production of Darkslide is now underway! Our first shooting day was a success thanks to a small but dedicated team of talented individuals! We covered about 2 pages of the screenplay in roughly 12 hours.

Here are some production stills from the scenes we shot:

Stay tuned for more updates on our progress as production moves along!

Due to a mysterious stranger known as X.x contacting the Darkslide campaign. We now offer a new perk! For $1 you will receive a message from X.x on Facebook (you must have a Facebook account). Who exactly is X.x....? And what does he have to do with Darkslide..!!?

Hi sorry to be negative but I do not see how having 4k will elevate your production in any way. From the look of the shots included in your intruduction it looks more like you need money in locations, props and more actors...etc. No one has a 4k TV and it is really irrelevant to the actual film making process. Also maybe get a steady cam or something because a lot of the shots looked a bit shakey and not well framed. Sorry to moan. hahah Just 4k does my head in, its not about more resolution but better scripts, locations and actors. You can make an amazing film in SD and most people wont know the difference. Most people actually still watch DVD and SD free channels on their TV's. For me location is so key to making something feel right. And the sound.
I really respect the concept and even that you are attempting a feature film. I hae started a feature script and even that is incredibly daunting task. Love your vibes keep at it. Interesting ideas, fresh!

You are right, it's not all about 4k. It's also about dynamic range, codec, and the lenses themselves which allow for more possibilities when it comes to depth of field. All of those things combined will help to elevate the visual quality of this production. Thank you for your comments, and I know the sentiment you are coming from. I too believe that a good film can be shot on almost any kind of camera within reason. Keeping the locations interesting and acquiring some additional actors is a big step that we need to take.

Here is a trailer that shows off our warehouse location which I think is actually quite good:

A lot of this stuff if not all of it is likely to be reshot as our equipment gets better. It's not all about 4k, it's about making it the best we possibly can with the means and budget we are able to obtain. We have some really interesting props and lighting ideas in the works, I want a camera that is going to give me at least 12 stops of dynamic range for artistic reasons not just because it's the hip thing to do.

We have released a new mini-trailer for Darkslide which gives another sneak peak into the world Damen Krow inhabits!

Hi thank you for the reply. I know people that have made feature films with only one lens on a canon 5d mkIII. You have to think of the audience not just the film buffs and your own artistic interests. At the end of the day a 4k 12 stop dynamic range shot of some boring scenery and crappy special effects will not look any better. You need lots of interesting characters and locations, everyone thinks they are Tarchovsky but things have changed no longer is it so satisfying to watch the same shot for 30 seconds with lovely light play. Gotta get your balls on the table and deliver a film that makes people sit up and listen, this is harder and harder these days considering everyone is making films (although the quality is not improving)... I think the fact that no one has replied on this thread is enough proof that it does not stand out from the masses of mediocre productions, with professional looking imagery. As I said you need to think about hiring proper actors and get into some good locations and location cost a lot. Your camera looks like it is very good quality, don't go chasing the quality dragon through the fantasy forest, you will end up with a shitty film of a guy and some bad FX but it will have amazing dynamic range!

Here is the first update video for the Darkslide campaign which dives more into depth about why it is important that the lead character in the film has Asperger's syndrome. Please take the time out of your day to watch this short video.

We have completely redone our pitch video for the Indiegogo campaign. Please take the time out of your day to check it out!

The Darkslide team would like to present our second Indiegogo campaign update! This update answers two common questions we have been getting about the film: 'Is Darkslide a horror movie?' and 'What is a Darkslide?' It also dives into what the storytelling influences are for the film.

With 32 days left on the campaign we are extremely grateful for all of the contributions and support so far! We could not have made it this far without you help, so please continue to help sharing the campaign and help spread word about Darkslide!!

Darkslide is about a young musician with Asperger's syndrome named Damen Krow. He desperately wants to reach people, but has great difficulty in communicating with anyone on a personal level. One day, he meets a talented young artist named Naomi Sinclair who shows him what it is really like to feel a human connection... Then one day she completely disappears from his life and he suspects kidnapping. He must overcome his fear of social interaction and his own shortcomings or forever be lost in the dark void of obscurity.

Through crisis and occurrences in our life we often evolve or change into different 'versions' of ourselves. Depending on the choices and decisions we make which lead us down different pathways on our timeline. This film supposes that alternate timelines of ones life are all happening concurrently and sometimes bleed into each other creating dream-like unreality within reality.

Please take the time out of your day to check out the Indiegogo campaign for the film. Thank you!

Hi I am glad you took out that you need a better camera because the footage looks fine, what camera are you using? Again locations, fx and actors should be your main concern.
One thing is your pitch video doesn't seems very well framed there is too much space above your head.

Hey there, thanks for the comment! It seemed better to not go into the details about what gear we are buying so that people don't assume that is all we want to do. We just got an actress on board for the secondary role and things are moving alone nicely :)

The camera we are using is the Black Magic Cinema Camera (2.5k with EF mount), the footage from the older stuff is a mix of Canon and Nikon DSLRs. Basically, we have been using anything we can get our hands on. But now we have the Black Magic which produces some really nice footage and shoots with a great codec (Apple ProRes 422).

You are right about the pitch video framing being a little bit off. I noticed that too but the audio turned out quite nice so we were reluctant to do it all again. Perhaps we will give it another go before the campaign is over! We are going to look into additional avenues of fundraising after it is over.

Here are some screen caps from the newest shoot that feature the newest addition to our cast named Misty Dore:
