Dario Argento Documentary

Sorry I can't check the youtube link (dumb work computer) but just wanted to say congratulations on the interview, my mate's a huge Dario fan.

I'd love to see more of that. Argento is one of my idols. The few interview clips that were there looked to be a little underlit, but maybe that's just how it came out on youtube. Please post more of that when you get the chance. Your editing is really solid, from the looks of things.

Thanks for the feedback. As for it being underlit...part of that is the compression from YouTube, and well I haven't done any post work on it. I need to color correct everything, do some small things to the sound. Thankfully the sound came out nicely, that really was my biggest worry.
I noticed when watching the footage on an LCD tv or a CRT tv it looks fine. It doesn't look as dark. Now I'm worried haha.
Truthfully, you start putting things together, you get so immersed in them that you can't see anymore. So if it's dark, or funky looking let me know people!
I'm going to put up a different/longer version soon. But then that will have to be all for the updates for a bit. This documentary is being produced in conjunction with a book I am writing about Argento. So, I don't want to spoil too much of it for people.

Terrific! I'm so excited for you because I also admire Dario Argento. The lighting seemed fine on my Mac and professional looking. Shoot lots of the gray haired guy doing commentary on Dario because he seems to know what he's talking about and what he says and the way he says it is interesting. I want to see a rough cut. I'll be happy to give you feedback. Please email whenever you need feedback.

Very cool, can't wait to see the longer clip (and then the completed doc, of course). How are you managing the rights for the film clips used in the doc?

HAHA! Thanks for saying that's Mick Garris!!!! If you read the description on the YouTube clip it says who's in the clip. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. But "the grey haired guy" comment made me laugh out loud!
Thanks everyone for the comments, and I hope this thing comes out as I want it to. The book I am publishing to coincide with the docu should be great, not to blow my own horn but this thing is a labor of love for me, and I've met some amazing people because of it.
And as for the rights issue with the clips. I'm praying fair use laws will cover me. But we're wrangling with that all now.

Hey not sure where you're from but Dario Argento's new film will be showing at the Toronto International Film Festival Thursday Sept. 6 at 11:59pm. I'm sure you could get some great footage from fans and they filmmaker's usually do some Q & A after too.
