Damn Right Canada...

Nice. I signed the online petition. I think i was number 34,000ish or so. And I think each signature sent an e-mail to someone as well. I bet their e-mail box exploded!

Old news, the latest is that the CRTC will delay, by 60 days, the new system... So right now it is still in the air.
Both sides have a point....But there is a bit of misscomunication going on.

Side 1 says that the net should be ruled b suply and demand, those who demand more suply, must pay for it. IE we cant have everyone downloading at top speed 24/7 with out it clogging up the system.
Side 2 says **** off, we want unlimited internet because if you bothered to use the money we pay you to go towards upgrades, the system could handle it!

Here is where the problem is, I'll start with side 2..
Side 2 pays for 80 gigs at 60$ a month, they use those 80 gigs up no problem, and maybe then some, paying for overages (UBB is already here, this new buzz is about passing UBB to 3rd party suppliers)
Side one says hey, 80 gigs is a MAX not a norm, we have poor granny paying the same price, and she only uses 2 gigs a month, the extra money we get from her is going to you!
So in a way the people who don't use up their net each month are propping up the over users.

Problem with side 1...
Side one wants money, they think that prices should always go up and that you need to pay for each bit you use.
The problem is, they are asking for over a dollar per gig already in the monthly plan, when the actual cost to the provider is only a few cents per gig. So for them to say "If you want more gigs, you gotta pay 3$ per gig now". Data and Cell phone minutes and tv stations are the only commodies in the world where when you buy in bulk, the price goes up! And they just happened to be run by the same people!

Side 2 would have no problem paying per gig, if we could pay per gig on a reasonable scale. Like if you used 3 gigs a month, well thats a 10$ bill, if you used 100 gigs, thats a 50$ bill.

While I'm on a rant, cable can turn tv shows on and off on your box at will, how come I can't get cable with just 5 channels and pay for those channels only? Why do I need 50 channels that I won't watch?
(I know the answer money money money, but still, I wish there was some grand plan that would make it all make sence)
