Damaged P2 Card

I've been using 4gb P2 Cards for over a year. no problems. But just the other day one of the cards ended up having one corrupted clip (out of 23). the clip wouldn't finish playing back.

when importing on a powerbook, either by copy-pasting or using p2 Genie, the card would suddenly eject and a DEVICE REMOVAL at around 60% error would follow. Using P2 STORE, the card also causes a sudden error while copying. haven't found a way to copy the entire card.

i ended up just extracting the 22 good clips via fcp, leaving the damaged clip alone. no sudden ejects this way. finally, used P2 Log Pro to export/unwrap the damaged clip. it worked, and revealed that the 2nd half of the footage had all sorts of pixelation problems that resembled dropped frames.

the whole problem repeated itself just this morning, the same card had one clip damaged. couldn't copy the entire card.

question is, IS THE CARD DAMAGED? like bad sectors or permanent damage like a harddrive? the whenever a clip is recorded over a damaged part, it causes errors..?

Any ideas? Should i be thinking of sending the card out for repair?

any help much appreciated! thanks!
