D90's fast Motordrive for motion + Twixtor

looks wicked. I've been planning to add twixtor to my arsenal for the feature. pretty high end results for the money. Did you have any issues syncing dialog?

Cool video. The images looked very crisp and clear, sorta had a RED One feel to them.

Now if Nikon would give us a really good 1080p codec next time I'd say we would be getting close to that type of image quality.

nice. Now would it be possible to mod the D90 sort of like the Andromeda? Imagine getting that quality and rez. We wouldn't need Red, then again we still would have to deal with the jello, no iso control, etc. Anyway, just a thought.

Somebody would be VERY rich if they could come up with an Andromeda for D90.

This weekend I bought the d90 remote release and tried out the fast 4.5 fps motordrive on the camera. I shot 2K jpegs at fine quality, then brought it all into AE, and applied the Re:Vision Twixtor plugin to fill in all the missing frames.

Had an interesting effect on motion, when the subject is slow-moving, with fast motion it gets pretty teared up. An interesting surreal effect.

But I must say that in AE, doing a grade on the d90 jpegs, is such a treat compared to attempting to grade d90 AVI footage. And the sharpness of a 2k jpeg is a joy to behold.

So I made this wee short as a test:

Brilliant Ass Brilliant!

A+++++++++!

Loved the footage, thought it was real interesting.

Am curious about the way you shot - are you saying you had a remote trigger, on a short delay, and moved that way? I'm curious as I've today, woo, ordered a D90, coming from a Pentax world. My Pentax had remote triggering and a 3 or 10 second delay, so that's the info I'm going from heh.

Now if we could just trigger multiple exposure shooting you could do some crazy HDR stop motion.

awesome

awesome

Matthew's short is very badass in it's own right, funny and surreal. I love it.

I just had to try it for myself. I decided to make a quick trailer for a film we are developing using the same technique. About 2,300 Jpegs went into this one. I also wrote the score as usual, which is on iTunes now by the way. :)

BTW- if anyone tried to access my website it's down until tomorrow due to traffic so I have the 1080p file on exposure room
