D90 with HDMI capture IO boxes

Hi all, have been following this thread for a while and it has been a great resource.

I am planning to purchase an AJA IO HD for some our production work and was wondering if anyone has tried it with the Nikon D90's HDMI video output.

I thought that as long as the D90 can live preview out to a HDMI monitor (LCD TV), the AJA IO HD would be able to capture any HDMI signal it outputs.

so far no luck on our side... does anybody know what possible solution i should take? or is it just not possible...

thanks!

Gabe

not a bad idea, assuing the HDMI doesn't carry the OSD, as far as shooting to the card symtianously the HDMI disable when you hit the ok button, you could use the intensity although thats a PCI-e card

Hi PhantomVideo,

what is OSD?

well, would the intensity work better than the AJA IOHD? so far, i only get white lines blinking around the screen when we are in capture mode... no luck

On Screen Display, I have never patched HDMI into my D90 into but over composite it trasmits the on screen display, if it was going to work you would have to capture without recording to the card, but maybe it only allows the use of HDMI when review images. The AJA should work if the D90 is transmitting HDTV complitant signal the aja shouldn't have an issue, the Aja is a better bet for moblie capture as the intensity is an pci-e card only there for your would need a desktop machine to make it work. Can anyone confirm that the HDMI is live durning live view ..... or not ?

Dudes, I'm afraid that the OSD is always visible when viewed through the HDMI cable. I know - it's sort of an epic fail, but it is a camera first and a camcorder second.
