Great montage. I noticed a little jello, but to me it added something to the video, sort of an old home movie effect. I would love to be able to do all wedding videos like this, but everybody wants the full ceremony and reception which couldn't be done with a D90 due to the 5 min limit. I currently use an A1 to shoot weddings but there is no way to get this kind of look without a DOF adapter which is not really practical for weddings.
This short but sweet video is easily proof enough that there is a real need for Canon and Nikon to create a dedicated HD indie film / prosumer camcorder with interchangeable DSLR lens mount and with the video capabilities of the D90 and 5D mkII.
Thanks guys... this shoot was for pure fun as a guest. My friend got married and had his wedding covered by HVXs so I decided for fun to shoot the D90. Yes the Jello is tough to control in a run and gun situation..... VR would help even the weight of the larger lens gives stability to a light camera.
Audio was not a concern this was music only. I look forward to the evolution of this camera type but for now I have my HMC150 to stay Gelatin Free.
Workflow was fine very smooth into FCP... used FCP ProRes transcode.
No separate audio source.... since I wasnt handling a full ceremony, toasts etc.
Export compression even on Vimeo holds up really well. Daylight shooting colors have alot of range to play with.
You can either transcode into FCP ProRes or just drag onto a timeline and render.
To me the Jello effect is very difficult to contain especially with only one shot at the image.
I stabilized using the neck strap and held the camera out tight as possible.
Since the shoot I have used the 70-200 VR which gave far less Jelloing. I just love my 1.4s so its a trade off.
Great wedding film! Love the look and feel. Great Super 8 transitions.
This video proves how the D90 really can capture events with such a vivid sense.
It also shows the weakness mostly rolling shutter and that it can be hard to hit the focus 100%. But I love it, great!
I've shoot some weddings. The last time I gave the couple an unedited version of the whole cermony and a "documentary" style piece shoot before, during and after the wedding. Wished I hade the D90 then!
Great video, I'm filming a "love story" segment of a wedding video this weekend, and because of this video I'm renting a D90 to shoot it. I'll record the audio to my dvx100a and resynch it in editing and I can't wait to use the D90 for the b-roll, beauty shots. Hopefully the couple is half as entertaining as this couple.
