D90 Video Frustration

Hi, first post here. Having only recently purchased my D90 I wasn't aware of it's video potential. I've seen some cool stuff here and I'm excited to learn some stuff about making videos.

That being said, I can't get my dang camera to work! Well, maybe it's a software issue.

When I transferred my first videos to my laptop I couldn't get the video/audio to sync properly. I have a 64bit Vista system. I was using Windows Media Player. I tried a few other players but the only one that would sync properly seemed to be Quitcktime. I set up Windows to use Quicktime as the default player for AVI files.

Now when I transfer video the videos have the little QT logo on them...well some of them. Some don't and when I try to open them I get an error. It's so frsutrating! I hope it's not a camera issue. It's brand new. Also, it's don't it with multiple SD cards so I don't think that is the problem.

As a total video newb, what program should I be using? Is there anything out there that's quick and easy to use? I don't want to do anything fancy at this point...I just want to shoot a video, transfer it to my computer, and then view it. That's not too much to ask is it?

Cool, the Windows Classic works. Although those few files still don't show a thumbnail like the others they still open and play correctly. Also, not only do they not have a thumbnail, they still have the Quicktime Q on them. Weird. At least I can open them.

Thanks!
