D90 not recording

I was shooting some footage tonight on a new 8GB Sandisk and for some reason most of the footage was not recorded. I have recorded on the same type of cards before and never had this happen. I got home from the location and tried to record again on the same exact card and it worked. Has this happened to anybody before and what did I maybe do wrong? Thanks
 
Your card probably needs to be formatted.

Especially if you have ever used the card in another device other than your D90 or a card reader. It's easy to format, just look in the menu. Hope this helps.
 
Or it was full. Even when my card was almost full and still showed more available time it wouldn't record.
