D90, hdmi, & mxo2

Okay, so this may be a silly question... perhaps I'm dreaming for too much... but does anyone know if you can use the MXO2 and the HDMI output on the d90 to get full 1080p without the crazy compression issues of the d90 live capping to a laptop? I may either be misunderstanding the function of the d90 or the MXO2 (i own neither) but it seems that matrox boasts that you can live cap and bypass compression issues if you have an hdmi out on your camera. Just wondering if anyone knows or has personally tried this-- thanks! :beer:
 
you can, but it won't be full 1080p since it's windowed, plus you'll get all the vf icons, plus a lot of those "crazy issues" actually happen before compression.

external viewfinder? i think playback is icon free though but then it's compressed 720p so no real benefit except for viewing.
