D90 covers Obama inauguration

This just in...D90 takes on the assignment of Barack Obama's inauguration in Washington DC. I did a multimedia report for our news station's website. The D90 performed well under difficult circumstances (15 degree wind chill). It's a great tool for covering events with video and stills, and was actually fun (although sometimes a pain) to use. I recorded most audio on Zoom H4, a few shots on D90's mic. I edited this on deadline in about an hour on Sony Vegas Pro 8. This is a lower res version I uploaded. Will post high def version if there is interest.

Thanks for sharing. I like it. Very nice journalism editing style and narrative. Your pictures look wonderful mixed with the video footage.

Although, when the news reporter was talking it would have been nice to see him stand still. As we all know it is extremely hard to walk with the D90, especially backwards. (The video footage looked best when you were not walking.) What lens were you using? That might have amplified your walking if you had a tele on.

Very cool.

Most of this was shot on the Nikkor 18-55 3.5-5.6 VR lens. For the standup it was set to it's widest setting. I switched to a Sigma 70-300mm for many of the telephoto and close up facial shots.
