D800 users. What RAW editing software are you using and why?

I am a D7000 user and my still picture files never look very good straight out of the camera using Apples Aperture. I recently purchased Adobe Lightroom 4.1. It seems to read the Nikon .nef files alot better. Almost no adjustment is needed and the image almost look HDR if pushed. Is anyone else seeing the same results. I am wanting to upgrade to the D800 soon......:). P.S. How do you like your D800?

Generally speaking, there are two process flows for RAW images:

1. If you are a pro on deadline sifting through 100s or 1000s of images (think football game or wedding), the high-volume tools of choice are Adobe Lightroom and Corel AfterShot Pro (formerly Bibble Pro). They make bulk adjustments of levels, curves, cropping, and rotating (straightening) simple and fast.

2. If you want to spend hours creating works of art from a few exposures, then Adobe Photoshop is the standard. Popular lower cost options include Photoshop Elements and Corel PaintShop.

I cannot imagine how or why this topic is of great relevance to a film-making website. DPReview.com or fredmiranda.com are much more suitable venues for this discussion topic.

Please let me explain.... I do events with video and stills. Animation such as Keb Burns effects are part of my film-making.

I like Aperture the best, it has great library functions for tracking and backing up photos, offers "bulk adjustments" and interfaces very well with FCP X for adding photos to video. On an Apple, it is seamless.

I use Lightroom. HAve been since it first came out. Aperture was not very good in its early incarnation, but its gotten much better.

As far as dpreview...junk forums, 90% of the people there know nothing and its a free for all of ignorance.

Lasikdenver I agree, it is seemless and I love the work flow. The raw converter just seems to be lacking and the noise reduction/skin smoothing tools also, otherwise I love it. When you look at your raw photos at 100 percent from the D800 to look sharp?

The Sarlacc----I love the power of the tools in LR4.1. I am just having trouble with the filing system. I am spoiled by Aperture. But I am determined to adjust/learn.
