D800 card in or out for external recording

Hi,

I keep reading and seeing on posted videos that you need to remove the card from the D800 in order to get 1080p out of the HDMI. The claim is that you only get 1080i if a card is in the camera (even a Nikon rep said this in one NAB video). I have not found this to be the case with my camera. Of course if you record within the camera the HDMI drops down to 720 but I find no difference in output with a card in or out when recording externally. Anyone else find this to be the case? Thanks.

Never mind. I found the answer in another thread. Nikon only suggest that you remove the card so that you don't mistakenly record internally.
