D7100 shared videos and photos

First thing... Thank you very much for these!!

This one seems sharper that the rained out tennis shot.
Did your camera settings change or was it a different f/stop?
It looks like lack of the AA filter has not hurt the video end. How are the stills as far as moire?

Thanks again for your time and work.

Thanks Hidef!

Yes, the tennis shot was the least sharp. The settings were the same for all the clips. My guess is that the rain in the background was really hard on the codec.

I actually shot a ton of sand volleyball stills. Unfortunately, Apple still hasn't updated Aperture for the D7100 so I can't work on them yet. Viewing the jpeg samples reveals no moire in any of the shots however. Once Aperture gets updated, I will post a link to the photos.

Cool! I would like to see what you have done if possible.

Ok, finally - dropbox was being a bit temperamental. Sorry, just mp4's here - wasn't able to upload the ProRes files. Basically, just ran them through AE with a Colorista pass - and added R Grain 'Smooth' at 25% no NR or Sharpening. Sorry if I disappoint any of the measurebators out there but was just trying playing around with the 'look'.

P.S : on the 2nd one - with eyes like that - she can make anything look good!

Thanks for the compliment. It took only a couple of minutes - not that I know anything but using an easy to use plug-in like Red Giant Colorista makes it so much easier. But it goes to show how much DR is in the D7100 - especially since you were just doing a quick test and weren't using a profile optimized for grading. It grades similarly to my D800 but I find the D800's noise pattern and rendering more pleasing - maybe it's just the full frame 'uumph' (could be a placebo - lol).

Colorista has a free version (also look on the site for excellent tutorials)

The grain I used is Rgrain:

Cheers!

As per vid description:
Nothing professional - just testing the D7100's video functionality and night scene handling. Shot handheld with Sigma C 17-70 @ 1080/30p. I believe the aperture and shutter were set to f/2.8 and 1/30 and WB on Auto1. No PP/editing other than to remove out of focus scenes.
Starting at 0:34, you should get an idea of how it handles moiré (or not).
