D7000 vs 60D comparison video

D7000 looks sharper, but I think it's mostly or entirely due to edge enhancement (sharpening) because the aliasing definitely rings more on the D7000.

Hard to say what YouTube has added to the mix. Nonetheless, D7000 looks quite good.

it might have been nice if the shots used the same focal length, DOF, ISO etc. The focus is much shallower on the D7000 samples.

WOW!

this is actually a very interesting test.

The OLPF is very different between the two cameras...maybe the D7000 is downscaling and not lineskipping...Would love to see a resolution chart.

I think the D7000 would benefit very much from a higher bitrate codec...

The color rendition of the D7000 is way more natural - I've been a nikon fan of nikon's colors for a long time - would love to see some resolution charts and color charts too...

What lenses were used? what picture profiles?

Vitaliy where are you?!?! D7000 hack FTW!

d7000 looks good there, but I've got to be honest & say the 60D's settings need to be changed. Someone dial down the sharpness setting & contrast please, then re-shoot the test.

Agreed.

This test looks neither impartial nor scientific. Moving along...

The D7000 footage also seems to have a few stops more latitude, although that might be due to others, unknown factors.

In the last comparison, the focus point seems to be off. On the side of the D7000, the near sidewalk looks to be in focus. On the 7D side, the far building seems to be sharper. It's hard to know how these two cameras compare without knowing the user settings.

I've always preferred the way Nikon handles highlight roll off & colorimetry over Canon. This is an imperfect test to say the least, but I like what I see from the Nikon. I really hope they got it right this time. Would have liked to have the option of 720p60 but other than that the d7000 is looking like a viable option.

looked like different aperture settings in almost every clip. d7000 was opened up more in a lot of those--much shallower DOF. also, dunno what the picture settings were. clearly some added contrast in the canon one. good to see some new d7000 footage though. it may turn out to be a viable alternative to canon, just have to wait a little longer to see

Useless test. The Nikon had way to much sharpening applied, the Canon had none. F-stops were different in every example, possibly also the focal length. The clips were apparently not recorded simultaneusly, and since it was outdoors light is not controlled/concistent so one can't make any assumption on the dynamic range either.
