D7000 video footage from Photokina

I don't know about the autofocus but the image looks great. No a single instant of RS or jello! This is the kind of footage that would have devastated the D90 video. The D7000 is looking pretty good so far.

I was concentrated on the shirt at :35 and the camera vest net at 45. Didn't look too bad. If I wasn't looking for it I wouldn't ever pay it attention. Now there was some weird slickering from the light behind him but I guess that was just shutter speed.

Indeed, no moiree and good sharp details overall. But the light flicker is probably one of those situations, where you're screwed in 50hz land. No matter what shutter you're on, if you're shooting in 24p it's there...thx nikon!

Actually, the d7000 has a 50hz flickerfree mode while doing 24p, so Nikon did improve shooting for us poor pal citizens.

But it has to be manualy enabled so i guess he forgot about it/didnt knew about it while doing that clip.

Looks real good tho and promising, in my opinion.

That is looking pretty good to me actually :) The youtube uploader said"...the video loke ok,is only 23378kbps maximun". If he is right about that bitrate then that would be quite a bit better than the 19,3 Mbp/s speculated about previously based on the 20 min recording limit and file size estimates, wouldn't it?

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but there is a music video teaser uploaded on vimeo that says it was partially shot with the D7000. http://vimeo.com/15196497

That music video teaser looks pretty good indeed. I saw it earlier today and said to myself what a great way to show everybody about RS and jello on this new cam.! So far it looks like Nikon gave us a pretty good camera to play with. What I like the most is that we will be able to attach any Nikon digital lens to it and get fully functional communication with them. Actually the 18-105 kits lens is a fantastic lens. Oh and beautiful 16 mp stills, sweet!

No jello, but still some rolling shutter. Check :50 There is a whip pan where it shows the "lean" in the image, at that speed, most won't notice or care.

Very good looking footage, compared to D90. Even though the sample video is only 720p, it does seem the video is not as sharp as Canon 5D mkII, but competes with T2i.

Footage looks great to me, really nice.

Couldn't agree more. I start smiling when I see the Nikon image in moving pictures. Good looking stuff....exciting times. I'm not holding my breath on it's FUNCTIONALITY....but it's image speaks for its self. PLEASE keep improving the other stuff Nikon!!! Because if they get it right....(functionality).....the image will win over MANY of us for certain. :)

This camera is so tempting as well as the other cameras as of now. But I'm still holding off for the future d700 full frame with video. I wonder how long I have to wait.

Does anyone know if the video mode has all manual control?

According to dpreview you can active manual video control:

"The D7000's movie mode offers a number of options. Apart from choosing from various resolutions and frame rates you can activate manual controls while recording, save movies on a separate memory card to stills and adjust the sensitivity of the microphone."

According to Chase Jarvis (his blog) "The ISO and shutter speed can be adjusted while shooting. You need to set the aperture before entering Live View."

BTW, here's some footage shot at night (check it out at 1080p!):

RE: that night 1080P footage: thank you for posting!

Looks good - but I can definitely see the standard DSLR aliasing and color problems - look at the front grill of any of the Mercedes cars in the first shot.

But then I was always sensitive to this stuff, coming from doing too much time tweaking anti-aliasing settings for 3D renders as a kid :)

Of course, I'm still not a fan of 5D footage either...
