D7000 - one of great camera shootout by zacuto

Seriously? Red's 42 MBYTE/s 12-bit RAW vs Nikon 24 MBIT/s 8-bit compressed? That's a test we need to see?

Let me spoil the shocking results right now...

(and it doesn't make me love my not-$25,000 D7000 one tiny bit less)

Ridiculous waste of time.

So far... wrong!!!

Well, I am very impressed with the D7000. It's definately the sharpest and most pleasing colours and grain structure of the DSLRs. I reckon a nicer flat picture curve would have been able to recover abit more highlights too.

Hmm tempted to go back to Nikon now...

Agreed. Aside from the numerical value for dynamic range, it seems to be as good as or better than the canons. Still, all of dslrs are so horribly soft compared to the true hd cameras. 7D was much worse than I expected.

Nikon never seems to blow away the Canons. They are very similar. I was surprised to see the difference between the 5d and 7d.
