D7000 Official!

Manual Video Control according to DPreview. Its such an important feature but its hardly talked about anywhere else. Not even mentioned on the Nikon site.

At least Nikon owners got proper camera :-)
Very good Sony sensor. Perfect body, perfect viewfinder. Good price.
1080p24 and 720p24.
I am not sure about bitrate.
But overall this is first time then I want to have Nikon body :-)

I am pumped for this cam. I knew nikon would come through eventually and so far it looks good. I mean Jarvis doesn't seem like a filmmaker either so in the hands of an actual filmmaker who knows what the result can be.

We need to know how HDMI functions during LiveView focusing and during recording.
Bitrates.
Plus sound control (AGC thing).

Like they say: better late than never. :)

Congrats Nikon! Even if it is HUGELY OVERSHADOWED by the AF100 announcement....I'm happy to see this happen. Anyone who thinks that DSLRs are going away is just a fool! :) If the AF100 cost 1300. OK...done deal....but at 6K...there is PLENTY of room for a camera like this. :) Way to go Nikon!

Big problem is for each 1 AF-100 Nikon will sold 1000 D7000 bodies :-)
This baby will be real hit. As it strikes on Canon T2i, 60D, 7D all at once.
I do not talk here at Pentax K7 and upcoming K5.
Sony do not have DSLR bodies at this class, and don't plan to (new announced DSLRs will be quetly postponed as I understand).

Exactly my thoughts.

Plus: why no 60 fps?????

D700 has Sony 16Mp sensor.
And it looks like it can't do more than 1080p30.
It is interesting to look at internal photos to compare with NEX and SLT.
For me 24fps is pretty enought.

GH2 will provide you 60fps. Plus, most importantly, EVF during shooting.

If the 7000 had a good bitrate and 60 fps I could get rid of my Gh1. Now I have to consider getting a 7000 and keep my GH1 or move to Canon and have everything in one body.
I kinda hope the bitrate is lousy, it will make my decision much easier :)

And this thing has microphone level adjustment (3 levels, plus AGC setting ):-)

Now I want to hear how HDMI is working. As it is crucial for me ( as I plan to sue external LCD most fo the time) :-)

Plus all for $1200 body only. I am sad that Pentax K5 can now only sell for something like $850-900 (and this is K-r price :-) )

Exactly. It is a waste of energy to complain about what it doesn't have. We have to be fully aware of what it does have. If the camera doesn't have something people need there are plenty of other cameras out there nowadays.

Vitaliy, are you going to hack the D7000 for us:-) I'm waiting on the GH-2 to decide what to buy. I love Nikon, but for video, are they getting in too late? So for me, I should judge by, (1) video bitrate, (2) 1080p 24 is fine, (3) best low light performance, (4) Live view at full HD res over HDMI to monitor during recording.

But as a still camera, with 14 bit RAW, this is an amazing camera. And using Sony's CMOS, without the silly transparent mirror in the way.
