D7000 and "light" waves?

Here in Sweden we will have to wait another week or more until the D7000 starts to ship, but I have seen some videos made with the D7000 both at Youtube and Vimeo so as I understand it has been shipped in US (?).

As an owner of the D90 indoor shooting with only lightbulbs as lightsource made the famous waves-rolling horizontal over the screen. Has anyone any experience about this problem on the D7000? Is it still there and if so, how bad is it?

as I'm sure you know it's a predictable artifact of shooting 24 fps under 50hz light, known to man since the beginning of time. a rolling shutter makes the problem worse since it doesn't just make the whole image flicker but every row, which looks like rolling bars. the solution is to shoot at a matching shutter speed, with the d90 you had to trick it but the d7000 has manual so problem solved. at least almost, there will always be some light sources that run on "flicker free" ballasts or dimmers that flicker at a different rate than the 100hz produced by 50 hz lights. in gran canaria at night there was always one wall or sign that kept rolling even at 1/50s, and in stockholm the subway led signs are impossible. shooting at 1/25 helps if you can live with the video look.

NO! Great would be 25p...but it's not a technical difficulty for nikon, it's by design, so they can sell another DSLR in the spring, which will be celebrated as the euro night time shooter, now with 25p! yay...

But as I can understand it does support 25p, even though its only in 720-mode...or am I wrong?

720p would be nice if indeed it were 720p. But if it's anything like the previous HDSLRs from canon, nikon, panasonic ect. you have to record in 1080p to get your 720p worth of resolution. Of course we'll have to wait for some res charts, trumpet charts and what not...

i like 24 fps even though I'm in europe, very easy to convert to all cinema and broadcast formats there are, and now that it's supposedly 23.976 it's even better. but sure having a choice would be nice.

Also the D7000 has a flicker setting so you can chose what Hz you are shooting under and it will correct the problem. I haven't had to use the feature yet so I don't know how well it works but I imagine it doest the job. Just having manual ISO control is the best thing in the world coming from the D5000 with nothing.

Flicker setting? Hmm interessting, how does that work? I'm personally not that opposed to converting my footage to 25p for dvd or blue-ray. Not that I understand the difference between 24 and 25 fps though...
Would be nice to be able to shoot at night without fighting those flickering lights.
