So I have had my d600 since Christmasand shot on it a few times but never seen such bad moire as I saw yesterday. Let me explain my setup

d600 shooting in DX crop mode on a 50mm 1.8 at f/5.6. Flatt10 and Flatt11 picture profile. 1080p30.
Now this was the first time I used the DX crop mode for the entire shoot because i was using my teleprompter and i needed to punch in a bit while keeping the camera farther back so talent could read easily. It was on a white cyc with 5500k lights all around. My first issue was the color. I found no matter what I did it looked rather green. Its nothing that can't be fixed in post with relative ease but just annoying.

The bigger issue i am having is the moire. This is the first time I have shot with this camera in this studio set up. On other shoots it was always more artistic stuff with a lot of shallow DOF (having moved form a t2i i was spending a lot of time playing with the new and improved CRAZY SHALLOW DOF that the full frame offered me). So in all reality this was the first time i have shot video on this camera above f/2.8.

So I'm curious what caused this. Is it being in DX crop mode? Does flatt picture profile make a difference?

I have heard a lot of guys talking about sharpening footage in post. I would assume this would only make it worse but what type of settings do you guys use to sharpen without looking like crap? If i am being honest i have never used the sharpen filter in Premiere. I use unsharp mask in photoshop at times.

Here are two raw frames on this link below. You can see on the woman her blouse has some shinny stuff that is going mad and then in my beard and eyebrows you can see the same.

My experience with the d600 tells me that DX-mode is not recommended, since it is worse in terms of AA and moire than the FX-mode. It still is usable in some more shallow DOF-shots though and its definetly not as bad as the 720p mode.

Yeah, I think that the problem was merely the dx crop. Because i have used Flaat profiles on this camera and on my t2i for along time without a noticeable jump in moire.
