D4s for video

So, I inherited a D4s at the company that I just started working at. The person before me was devoted to Nikons so, wanted the best model. While it is obviously a fantastic stills camera, I am not sure about video. Most seem to feel it is really soft in for sensor mode. What do I lose by going to the crop mode to get sharper video? Any other gotchas with the D4s?

in this video they note the cheapest camera D3300 looks better the the most expensive camera and I think thats quite an embarrassment for nikon. it shouldnt have to be the best of the best but at least as good as D5300. which is pretty midway.

starts at around 1:40

low light video is excellent but still soft as hell. using good glass will minimize it though.
