In about 30 minutes I shot this video with D4 and new Tamron 24-70 VC in both hand held and with monopod. The wide shots are full frame and close ups are crop mode. Limited post processing and internal card only. Picture Control=Portrait. ISO 200 and autofocus-S 1/50 sec at f/2.8. Sound was Sennheiser G3 into camera (might be best part of the production). Edited on FCP X. During zoom shots I was basically holding the camera with one hand and zooming with the other, which added some wobble at times. I was impressed how the lens seems "parfocal" holding focus throughout the zoom range.

More on the Tamron 24-70 experience: Although it is great for smoothing video footage, it turns out that the VC does not work very well for photos, and this has been discussed extensively on another forum over the last week. When I look at the sharpness of photos, they are actually blurred by having the image stabilization "on" down to a shutter speed of 1/50 second, about the same here and only really helps at 1/30 or slower. This is hand held, not on a tripod, where the difference is even worse. So, if the shutter speed is 1/160 then the sharpness is way better with the VC off. What this means is essentially you need to turn the VC off for photos and on for video, unless taking some very long exposures. For me this is a return because my premise was to be able to use the lens for both photos and video, and it turns out that even in the best of circumstances, the photo performance is beneath the Nikon 24-70. Therefore if only use is video on a Nikon then it is good, but if there is hope of using the VC for photos, then it disappoints.
