D3s - HDMI out while shooting video?

I'm wondering if anyone has used the hdmi out on the D3s while shooting video. I've heard that the lcd on the back of the camera turns off, but what is the resolution like on the external monitor while the camera is rolling? HD enough to confirm focus with?

I've tried with the D90 and yes, quality good enough to pull focus. I don't remember if the LCD turns off or not....

Thanks. I've got the gear together today to test this out (D3s and a totevision lcd), I'll post about the results later.

The back LCD will be turned off if you are using the D3S new firmware 1.0.1
