Any GH2 owners own the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 lens?

Can you give a brief review?

Also, why 35mm instead of 85mm?

I don't own a GH2, or the Rokinon ( though I have heard they are excellent, especially given the price). I can answer your third question though: different focal length lenses are for different situations, different types of shot. A 35 mm lens on full frame would be wide angle, while an 85mm lens would be a portrait lens. On the GH2, the 35mm becomes a portrait, and the 85mm becomes a telephoto. For a 'normal' lens on the GH2, you would need something in the range 20 to 30mm. Rokinon do a 24mm, but I believe it is not as good as the 35mm (or so I have heard).

Thanks, I'll be doing a short feature movie and wanted to know which would I get more milage out of -- the 35mm or the 85mm (samyang/rokinon)

It depends on your projects, on what kind of shots you have to shoot.
On a GH2, I would think that the 35mm would be more useful, but I'm not totally sure either, since 70mm FF equivalent is a bit short for a portrait lens.
I'd try to go for something like a 12mm, a 25mm and a 50mm, but again, it depends on what you have to shoot.

Samuel is right: A selection of lenses would be better. Even just a 12mm and 24mm or thereabouts would cover you for most situations (assuming narrative shooting). However, if I had to pick only one of the Rokinons, it would be the 35mm for sure. I'm sure the 85mm is a fine lens, but unless you are shooting wildlife films, or are a peeping tom, it will rarely come out of its box.

funny, just ordered my 35 mm today from amazon for about 390 used :] can't wait to get it on my cam! (although i got one of dem evil t2i's O.O)

Here is my suggestion after reading the different threads you have posted regarding this... Get yourself a smartphone app like pCAM. It is very well worth the investment before you go buy any lenses. You simply select the camera or sensor size you will be working with, and then can see your field of view for any focal length lens, so you really know which lenses you need to buy. It also shows your depth of field, focal length matching, color correction, Mired shift, light coverage & illumination and so much more. It's easily the best $30 you will spend toward your film budget.

Good Luck!

easily the best $50-$100 you will spend toward your film budget.

I have the 24mm F1.4, 35mm F1.4 and 85mm F1.4 Rokinon lenses but have not tried the 35mm on my GH2 yet since my 25mm F0.95 Nokton is so much lighter.

So mistaken.......
Rokinon 85mm is an amazing lens on GH2. About 30-49 feet and you can get full body shots, so I believe you are wrong on thinking you need to be shooting wildlife.....

Also for a lot of closeups indoors I love the 85mm lens, I believe the minimum focusing distance is a little over 3 ft.

Rokinon 35mm and 24mm are excellent as well.
For an overall lens though I would suggest 35mm on the GH2.

Well, I will defer to your specific knowledge of this lens, but I didn't say it wasn't a good lens. I said that for narrative or general use, using the GH2, a 35mm would be much more useful than an 85mm, given the choice of only one lens. Trying to shoot all your scenes from 30 feet away would begin to place some restrictions on the production I think. Of course, having both would be better, but the OP was asking which one would be more useful, and in fact in your last line you do agree with me:

Having said that, personally I would still find that a bit tight for most of my work, I'd rather go for the 24mm, but each has their own tastes!

The 35mm on my crop camera is one of the best lenses I've ever used. Sucks that it didn't have AF for still photography though.

I really like Leica 45/2.8 on m4/3 for talking heads. It's narrow enough to get a nice framing. 35mm works fine if you want a wider but still good looking interview lens on m4/3.
