Custom metal thread mount for front of EX1

Do you guys think something like this is out there or can be made? I want to buy or have built, a metal/ aluminum threading (high quality) for the front of my ex1 camera. What I want to do is mount my Elite adapter semi-permanently to my camera. So I can carry the camera around and in my petrol case with the adapter pretty much always on it, and not worry about the little plastic threads. Any ideas on this? Anyone doing this?

don't the rods take the weight? even if the threads were metal, i wouldn't want my lens assembly holding that much weight. but with rods and baseplate, the stress is off. i carry my ex1 with redrock attached all the time. fits in a kata eng bag...
