GH4 Custom framing guides for different aspect ratios on the GH5...

Does anyone know if the GH5 will provide any option(s) for custom aspect ratio frame guides?

Not sure if the GH4 did, but it would be *extremely* helpful if this feature is implemented in the GH5!

We're too finicky to use duct tape.

One of the things I really liked after switching to the BMPCC is the inclusion of proper aspect ratio guides. Makes shooting 2.39 so much easier.

It's about time Panny added these to the GH lineup.

Not on the GH4, and I don't believe they have been mentioned for the GH5. Which is too bad. Such an easy feature to add.

I wouldn't pay for framing guides.

But, a firmware update that changed the recording to DCI compliant resolutions- that might be worth some money.

In other words, if we want to shoot 4K Scope, then the camera records only the DCI compliant 4096 x 1716 pixels, rather than wasting bits on the parts we cover with black bars.

With the possible bonus of higher framerates due to less pixel pushing. I can DEFINITELY get behind this, especially since I am one of those people who loves the scope look, even using regular lenses :)

Panasonic, if you're reading this, do it!! :D

Cheers,

Paul :)

I requested custom frame guide lines, & much more, when I met with Panasonic.

When the inevitable GH6 request threads pops up maybe I'll post all the suggestions I proposed to Panasonic.

Custom frame guides are somewhat of a dictating factor for us. Most of everything we shoot is framed in scope. The ability to re-frame in post would be a nice bonus, too.

Everything else on the GH5 -- bar the lack of an internal variable ND -- is on the money.

It would be irksome to have to use an external monitor for the one feature that you'd imagine would be fairly straight forward to implement in-camera.

Do you really use custom guides, though? Or just the standard 2.39 for that?

I think standard guides would be the better call. 1.37, 1.85, 2.2, 2.35, 2.39.

They don't *have* to be custom. Would be happy with the "standard" frame guides, and maybe a few "specials", including 2.76:1... :)
