Custom frame size .mp4

Hey everyone. I'm having difficulty doing even a test render right now in Vegas 7. I'm using h.264 mp4 as my compression, and I want to use a custom frame size of 430 x 179. The problem is, after I type this in and move onto something else, it automatically jumps to 432 x 192 when that is the wrong ratio for what I'm doing.

Any thoughts? Perhaps it has to do with the pixel aspect ratio? (only gives me options of 1.0000 and 1.3333 as opposed to the option I use with .move of 0.909)
 
Ive never been able to rednder an mp4 hd1280x720p. Is this possible in the render settings within Vegas. Also will installing new third party codecs on a system reflect in the render panel allowing renders to that type ?
 
I have x264 installed under .avi, yes, but this does not work because it won't let me pick AAC and it creates .avi anyways. This is useless for h.264 because no media player app supports h.264 in .avi containers. So the fact that the h.264 encoder appears under .avi on Vegas is a useless thing.
 
I didn't say it was useful for h.264 or AVC. I said that it's where you're going to find the codecs you install, answering a question posed by plainman.

Also will installing a lot of codec packs be detrimental to system performance. I have with me the avi 2 codec pack. Klite codec pack and divx codec pack. Im afraid wether installing all of these at the same time will create conflicts and issues ??
 
I never compared .avi with .aac. What I said was that when using the x264 codec under the .avi selection on vegas, there is no way to mux it with aac.

I would be very careful. Unless these are codec packs from well-established companies or groups, you have no idea what you're installing.
 
Only the ones that are compatible with the avi container will be shown on the Vegas exporting dialog. If you want to use free codecs on their full extend, you will have to export in a lossless format (e.g. the open source Huffyuv format) and then use something like ffmpeg to do the final conversion to any format you want.
 
it is a well known open source codec, no spyware. I mean, you should not even ask that, google will testify as to the popularity of the codec.
