Has anyone ever made a custom Li-Ion Battery pack for their DVX (Or any other camera for that matter)? I've been tossing around the idea of building a super extended battery into a rail system, but wanted to see if anyone has ever done anything like it first.
The standard battery that comes with the DVX is 7.2V and 5200mAh (If I remember correctly), so I was thinking that by hooking two standard batteries for Ebikes (Which can go as high as 20Ah or slightly higher) to get the proper voltage (And wiring in the proper PCB) you could get a battery that lasts MUCH longer. Then by cannibalizing the plate that you use to plug the camera into a wall, you could effectively create the battery to end all batteries. I do a lot of really long shoots (Documentary-style stuff) and changing the tapes out is a big enough pain, and I'd rather not power down if I don't have to.
So, what do you guys think? Is it doable? Has anyone ever tried or done something similar? Have I just gone insane from a lack of sleep? All opinions welcome.
