Curious about maintenance on the HPX170

I am a DVX100b owner, that now owns a HPX170. I would get regular routine maintenance on my DVX100b every 500 hours.
I've seen Barry say "No schedule maintenance, cause no moving parts."
I'm coming up on 700 hours on my HPX170 and it dawned on me that I have not contemplated a maintenance check up.
Is it it safe to say that this is something that I don't need to worry about?
I saw someone state focus rings as moving parts. Do the rings ever need maintenance?

Also, regarding hours. Are the hours on the cam suppose to say actual recording hours, or operating hours?

As far as I know, the hours are the "on hours", not rec hours.

If the rings are smooth and the camera works well, you shouldn't need maintenance. There is no tape...there are no heads...there is no physical contact between heads and tapes and therefore there is no physical wear; the video is transferred electronically. This cam with 1000 hours vs the same model with 10 hours makes no difference assuming it was taken care of during its life.

In a nutshell, if you don't notice any problems with the camera then there are no problems. Maybe blow some dust out using compressed air-in-a-can but that's it.

Probably the first thing to go will be the iris wheel. Considering how many hours you have on it, I am surprised it has not malfunctioned so far. I had mine sticking a little bit and used a low suction computer vacuum cleaner around the wheel. Solved the problem so far.

As a person that learned from a PC tech, electronics should be vacuumed, not blown with compress air. The thought logic is that blowing air only pushes dirt deeper into hard to reach crevices. Vacuuming actually sucks out the dust. I'm not an expert, but it just seems logical
