Curb Your Enthusiasm

I watching one of the episodes from season 3 last night when Larry is in a Scorcese film and he's a Jew mob guy screaming at a bunch of Italians and slapping them with wads of money on top of a roof, LOL, fricking hilarious. Anyway that reminds me to go see The Departed tonight, anyone else looking forward to seeing it?

I've never seen Curb Your Enthusiasm but heard nothing but great things about the show. I'm looking forward to seeing The Departed but will probably have to wait until it's on DVD. It looks fantastic though.

I tried watching one episode (after being told that a Seinfeld fan such as I would undoubtedly love it) and I simply could not get into it.

Weird.

As far as the departed is concerned, I was too busy to go see it tonight, but I've got hopes for tomorrow.

i rented the first season really looking forward to it but after watching 3 eps i didn't really wanna watch anymore. I didn't think it was bad, but it wasn't funny either, just... kinda slow.

Does it get better or is it just not my thing?

I suggest giving it another try. It took my about 2 or 3 episodes to start to like it. I have no idea how it eventually happened but now I love it and I am also a Seinfeld fan.

though I could be wrong...i'd give it another chance.

I will go ahead and Net Flix it then, but if I end up not liking it I'm holding you accountable, Weston.

I'm going to try one of the later seasons, apparently I saw one of the first episodes.

I know I am not the target audience for Curb Your Enthusiasm, but it is pretty pretty pretty funny stuff! Larry is simply every butthead to the 10th power. I am not a seinfeild fan. I have never watched a whole episode. Kramer was funny thou.

isnt it an ongoing series? if you grabbed a later season would you be able to appreciate whats going on?
Oh is it? I figured it was like Seinfeld- there were running gags and overall storylines. But nothing that would keep you from enjoying an episode out of context.

I was never a fan of Seinfeld and don't see what is so great about it. I think the characters on it are all pretty bad. I heard that Curb Your Enthusiasm is a lot like Seinfield but a whole lot better, in my opinion, that doesn't take much. One of my friends has said that if I like Arrested Development, which I love, than I will like Curb.

It is very good, so many uncomfortable scenes, I mean easily influenced by Christopher Guest and Ricky Gervais, but nevertheless very funny. I still think Arrested Development is funnier.

I love both Curb your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development. I don't totally agree, though, that if you like one you'll like the other. AD is alot more absurd and sometimes slapsticky than Curb your enthusiasm. I've found I don't really enjoy AD on network TV (didn't showtime pick them up?) Commercials totally ruin the rhythm of that show - I can only watch them on DVD. Also, I give huge props to both shows for not using a laugh track. Laugh tracks make me feel like I'm living in North Korea (and now you shall laugh...)

Curb is brilliant. Haven't seen any lately, but the scene you described (him in a Scorcese film) sounds hilarious.

Good stuff.

It's a chemistry thing too. Larry has great chemistry and timing with both Wanda, and the actress who plays his manager's wife. The situational humor is probably the best I've seen since The Three Stooges or Sienfeld's show. But has anyone seen "Extras". I think this show puts crap like "Entourage" to shame. It's so intelligently written and far superior in content and humor.

Showtime never picked up AD. I heard HBO or them were suppose to and unfortunatly neither of them did. In Season 3, they make a few references to hbo & showtime possibly picking them up. That's one thing I loved about the show, they took real time things that was going on with the show and incorporated it into the show. Commercials did ruin the rhythm of the show, it was a shame. I find myself watching the DVD's all the time.

Is Curb Your Enthusiam worth buying the DVD's even if you haven't seen the show yet? I have a habit of buying DVD's at blockbuster, movie gallery, etc when they have good deals even if I haven't seen them and a lot of the times I get burned. I've been thinking of getting the Curb dvd's, is it worth buying them with out previously viewing?

I've been so impressed with Curb's latest season (7) that I wanted to start a thread but found this one.

We know that a lot of the show is improvised; certain lines are scripted and the plot guides the actors. But what is not improvised is the manner in which each episode's subplots fold into one another. Accomplishing that with finesse, humor, and credibility is sheer brilliance and that is the same quality that gave Seinfeld its extra kick as well.

It's one of my favorite shows, I hear Larry David isn't acting that much and is like that in real life.

I hope they bring the rapper / Wanda's husband Crazy Eyes back.
