CS5 Mercury support for GeForce Cards !!?

Hi, did anyone figured out does Premiere CS5 mercury engine supports GeForce GTX260, or GTX275 graphic cards?

because GTX285 is too expensive for me now :undecided

Premiere CS5 didn't impress me when I tested a beta build from a couple of months ago. EDIUS is doing 4-5 layers of AVCHD smooth as butter with no special graphics hardware required. I didn't see any AVCHD performance boost in Premiere CS5 when running without a "certified" CUDA card. If Grass Valley can do all this in software why can't Adobe?

There is no requirement to have a certified graphic card to playback AVCHD footage. The Mercury Playback Engine is both software and hardware. All decoding of clips is done by the CPU, so playing back native clips will play equally good due to the rewritten 64-bit playback engine in Premiere Pro CS5. I see a huge improvement between CS4 and CS5 when playing back native clips. I can playback AVCHD at Highest Quality on my +2 year old laptop in CS5. That was not the case with CS4 on the same laptop.

When you apply video filters is when the graphic card comes in to play. I have a 720p50 timeline that is 410 seconds long. I added Three Way Color Corrector and RGB Curves and that timeline renderd out to MPEG2-DVD in only 96 seconds. (Yes, ninety six seconds) I can playback this timeline with Highest Quality in real time.

Its nice that the timecode from the clips can be seen in CS5 as well. ;)

Finally! I guess Adobe does listen... you just have to wait a really long time and pay up. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Interesting no help is given to decoding, but if they've improved the software, it shouldn't be too much of a strain on any decent CPU. I'm sure the GPU earns its worth helping with real time effects and encoding.

How do you get the beta?

I would love to sign up to a beta program with adobe.
I was on the CS2 tour and after the demo i talked to them about some bugs and issues i have found in Premiere Pro CS2 and Encore CS2. They got interested and asked me for more details via mail regarding the bugs. I did send them the requested details and then i got invited after a while. (And the bugs and issues where gone in CS3!)
