CS4 Mpeg Problem Importing

hello. I'm putting together a dvd for someone. All their video files are mpeg-1.
I can't import this into premier or nero or encore... i've got this free video converter called rad, but it's making everything look all rippled, like some frames are missing or something. Any suggestions on what to do ??

Try MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert everything first and then bring it into CS4. Google it.

I still use MOVAVI's converter when Adobe can't do it.
